Water Fast.. again!

"Our soul needs fasting, as much as our body needs food"

a couple of months ago, I started writing this down, and the idea was to tell and share my very own first experience of a water-fast:

"I always claimed that I could change my body any time I wanted.
I could bulk up or slim down, work on my definition or my overall strength and endurance and so on.
I always felt in control.

In control of my body, at least, that's the point.
Now water fasting is first of all a really challenging thing to do, whether you want to measure your willpower, reach a new level of mindfulness, detox your body or simply drop some weight.
I'm not doing it for any of the reasons above, probably - but I can't deny that see how long I can last is as exciting as difficult, as some sort of life-changing experience that will stay with me forever.
And more important than my motivations, which are quite more personal and some of you may not understand or agree with, I'm quite pleased with the results so far:
I'm only 4-day in, technically going for the 5th in a few hours, and I think It finally helped me to understand better the strict interconnection between body and mind, and body and nature, the rest of the world.
Whether we like it or not, and whether we could discuss the existence of a soul, our body is still an incredible machine that's affected by many factors, some of which we are aware of, some we aren't. "

"Fasting is not about diet burning calories,

It's about burning ego, pride and sins"

Then I stopped, life took over, as it often does, but the memory of that experience is still vivid and the planted seed grew freely and almost en passant, until it came around knowing the door again.

So here I am, ready to start my second water fast and anxious to hopefully be able, once done, to put down on understandable words what this incredible relatively new experience means to me.

Within the Ancient Greek history, Paracelsus, one of the fathers of Western medicine once said

"Fasting is the greatest remedy-- the physician within."

and so did Hippocrates, other big name in the history of Western Medicine

"Everyone has a doctor in him; we just have to help him in his work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. ...to eat when you are sick, is to feed your sickness."

I could quote what the Eastern Religions say about it, or any other religion for what that matter, all their voices pretty much agree on the importance of this incredible tool that we have to heal ourselves, whenever needed.

Instead, I'll try to do my best to gain a better insight of  this practise and come back with my personal take on it.
